Step Two: Your application will be reviewed by our team within one week of your submission.

Step Three: An email will be sent with the next steps to finalize your eligibility for an Alberta Catalyzer program.

Tips for a standout application

As you complete the application, remember to offer your best assumptions regarding your next best steps accompanied by insightful explanations of how our program will bring substantial benefits to your business's journey of starting, launching, or scaling.

  • We recommend typing up your answers in another document before copy & pasting into application app to avoid tech glitches and losing your work. Trust us, it’s happened before.

  • Assume the panel is unfamiliar with your venture and industry. They may have startup experience but may lack specifics about your market, customers, or technology. Clearly describe these aspects in your answers. For a fresh perspective, seek input from a colleague, friend, or family member who is unfamiliar with your venture.

  • Describe how the program will advance your business to the next stage. If unsure, that's okay—mention how the program can help validate your assumptions. Review the "What will you do" and "What's in it for you" sections, connecting program elements to your next steps.

  • Quantitative: Specify the number of interviews/surveys/observations and actionable takeaways.

Qualitative: Detail how customer discovery shaped decisions, integrated learnings, and confirmed/disproved assumptions. Share outcomes.

  • Include numbers in your application for clarity and impact. Numbers provide context, helping the review panel understand the value of your work and the potential of your business. Use data from market size, Google Analytics, peer-reviewed journals, customer discovery, and your progress so far (e.g., potential customers interviewed, number of active users, letters of intent, pre-orders, revenue, ) to strengthen your case.

Not sure if you can commit to a program or which one is right for you?

Cohorts run year-round. If you are unable to commit to the upcoming cohort start dates or are unsure which program suits you best, apply anyway. We'll review your application to suggest the best fit or add you to the next available cohort.
